Opportunities in the Lab
Prospective Graduate Students
We are recruiting 1-2 graduate students to start in Fall 2026 at Fordham University!
If you are interested, please email Katie your CV and a research summary. Also, prospective students should be aware that there is affordable housing available on-site at the Calder Center field station in Armonk, NY, or students could chose to live in NYC, based on their preference. See the department website for more detail on the graduate program.
Your CV. This should include past research experiences (tech positions, thesis projects, etc. ) and your role in them, any awards, grants, publications and/or presentations., and technical skills (e.g. Arc-GIS, R, Avenza).
Research Summary. What are your research interests? (1) What kinds of questions, study systems, and/or research fields most interest you and why? (2) How did you become interested in these [questions, systems, etc.]? (3) What most excites you about doing research in the Turo lab? (~1page)
Prospective Undergraduates / Technicians
We are hiring four seasonal research technicians to join us for the spring 2026 field season (and beyond!). If you are interested in native bee ecology in deciduous forests, have forestry or insect collection experience, or you are looking to gain research experience in these areas-- check out this JOB AD. This research is an NSF-funded collaboration between 2 academic institutions (Rutgers University, Fordham University) and 2 conservation non-profit organizations (Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, Audubon Society). NOTE: only apply if you are available on a full-time basis in April-June 2026.
Prospective Postdocs
We are open to postdoctoral scholars joining our lab but there is no active funding right now for a postdoctoral position. Feel free to reach out to Katie about your research interests if you’d like to write a grant/fellowship together (e.g., USDA NIFA Postdoctoral fellowship, Smith Conservation Research fellowship). Katie has experience with successful postdoc grant writing and would be happy to mentor interested postdocs.
